The Mexican gray wolf (Canis lupus baileyi) is an endangered subspecies of the gray wolf whose home range patterns have not been studied since reintroduction in 1998. Evelyn will be assessing ecological and social variables influencing wolf home range size at annual and biologically significant timescales from collared Mexican wolves in Arizona and New Mexico. Elucidating factors influencing home range size is a fundamental ecological parameter for any species, particularly those of conservation concern. Therefore, Evelyn hopes her research provides useful information helpful to Mexican wolf conservation and management.
