Matthew's research uses historic DNA specimens to answer questions about the ranges of arboreal mammals and how their genetic diversity is influenced by management actions. Outside of academic research, he is a community engagement professional with a background in resource management (strategic foresight planning, landscape restoration, salmon habitat monitoring). In his personal time, Matthew enjoys cooking, baking, local performance and live music, and learning abut the natural history of wherever he is.
